Rainbow is one of the senior female dolphins in this population with an estimated age of around 40 years or so. She’s had six calves over the years, although we only see three sons that still swim in these waters today, hunting and socialising around the Inner Moray Firth. Prism, who is 24 years old, Indigo, who is 13 and Sunshine, who is now 5.

Rainbow has many friends in this population of dolphins and is an important font of knowledge to the other younger dolphins – we know that skills, knowledge and traditions are passed on down the generations of whales and dolphins and lovely Rainbow is definitely one of the ‘wise ones’ in this resident group.
