New Title Added to Project WET’s Kids in Discovery Series
Discover Marine Mammals Provides Activities for Students

Discover Marine mammals
Bozeman, Mont., Oct. 13, 2006 – Today, Project WET announced the addition of a new title to its Kids in Discovery Series (KIDS): Discover Marine Mammals.

With the mission of helping kids discover the scientific, natural, cultural, and historical wonders of their world, books in Project WET’s KIDS are comprised of colorful, 16-page activity booklets written and illustrated for eight to twelve year olds. Creative and hands-on investigations, demonstrations, science experiments, educational games and stories stimulate understanding of each booklet's topic. These informative, inexpensive, award-winning booklets make excellent handouts to complement school curriculums or public education efforts.

According to Project WET’s Vice President of Development and Partnerships John Etgen, “The KIDS was launched as part of Project WET’s mission to reach children, parents, educators, and communities of the world with water education. The KIDS books were written with the knowledge that children learn by doing. With more than ten activities in each book, students come away with a wealth of knowledge on particular topics related to water.”

Project WET’s newest KIDS book was funded by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.

Discover Marine Mammals
Swim in the ocean with a dolphin or under the sea with a blue whale. In this book, activities lead students on a journey of discovery as they explore the world of marine mammals. Lessons on the habitats in which marine mammals reside, the conditions and challenges marine mammals face, and how to be a marine mammal steward are taught through hands-on activities.

Today, Project WET has published 26 different KIDS titles. For a complete list of titles and purchasing options, visit http://store.projectwet.org.
